Structure And Uses Of Brass Terminal Blocks

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. It is by far one of the most popular alloys. It is the widely used alloy only after steel. Alloys enjoy the advantage of the properties from both the component metals.

They conjure the features of both the components metals and give us desirable properties customized to our needs and requirements. India is the highest brass producing country. So, it is quite common to find a huge number of brass industries and manufacturers in India.

We can find various brass designed components and units being produced, used and exported from India. Let us take a look:

Brass has a varied use range in various fields. It is common to see brass components in fields like plumbing, electrical, construction, mechanics etc. With special electrical properties like moderate electrical conductivity and resistivity, brass sees simple and useful applications in the electrical components.

Brass terminal blocks are one of the important applications of brass in the electrical field. They from the core to connections and clamps where we need to join many wires and other conductors.

The traditional brass blocks are modular insulated blocks that can safe two or more wires and have a clamping device surrounded by an insulating body. The terminal has two or more slots for placing the wire terminals that need to be connected.

Wires once placed in these slots can be firmly fixed in place using the brass screws provided along with the set. The brass terminal blocks provide us with an insulator surrounding the complete set to provide safety for the electric components and also to avoid any current shocks that might arise at the junction.

One can easily identify brass blocks in the house hold by looking at the color of the material and the shape. Every brass terminal block has slots for placing the wire terminals.

One can also find a brass terminal block associated with every connection in the switch boards of the house. These are single slot brass terminal blocks that connect the terminals of wire to the switch boards. Even major electric machines at the house like electric geysers also have such blocks in them for connecting the wires.

Industrial brass connectors and blocks are completely different from the ones we find at the households. They have multiple numbers of slots and can at a time connect more than 4 to 10 wires at a time.

All the slots have to be fitted with the wire terminals and tightened with the screws for making the electric connections very firm and to provide insulation for one wire from the other.

This way we find many ways of using brass terminal blocks and we also find various types of blocks for various uses.
